A Brief History of AHeadStart:
AHeadStart was established by Melanie S A Coker in December 2007. Melanie was a top student at Christchurch Girls' High School and went on to achieve a First Class BSc(Hons) degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University
of Canterbury. Melanie is currently studying towards to PhD in biochemistry at the University of Otago Christchurch.
During 2004 and 2005 Melanie worked for BrainMasters Ltd as a tutor of mathematics, science and chemistry for secondary school students. It was at this time Melanie discovered her enjoyment in teaching and helping students to achieve their
best, beyond their own expectations. So with hands-on knowledge of the scientific process and prior tutoring experience Melanie began AHeadStart Tuition.
In 2008 Melanie provided editing and answer writing for Level 2 & 3 Chemistry NCEA exam questions for a new set of publications by Growing Minds Ltd. Growing Minds are publishers of the StudyPass study guides for NCEA Level 1, 2 and 3 subjects.
