Olivia KE

Hey there, my name is Olivia and I'm a Chemistry, Physics and Calculus tutor with AHeadStart tutoring. I am currently in my intermediate year studying towards a Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Canterbury.

I graduated from Riccarton High School in 2017, gaining a Scholarship in Physics and Excellence endorsements in all three levels of NCEA. During my time at Riccarton I have had fun participating in several competitions such as the Chemistry Olympiad and NZ Young Physicists’ Tournament. I was a part of the peer support mentoring program and was awarded the Girl’s General Excellence trophy for 2017.

I am a friendly, understanding person who is proud to be part of the minority who found high school fun despite its stresses. Aside from my love of Science, I enjoy Classical Studies and have a keen interest in art. I have participated in teams for Badminton and Dragon Boating. I have also enjoyed contributing to my school’s 2017 production and spending time volunteering around Christchurch as part of my school’s Environment Committee.

Having just finished NCEA myself I have a good understanding of what is required for different standards, and what it is like to be a student facing assessments both internally and externally. I am well-rounded and have a passion for learning and I believe anyone can succeed to the best of their abilities with enough time and hard work. This process is sped up when you are taught content in the way that suits you best. I aim to boost student success by catering to each student’s unique strengths and needs, as well as putting an emphasis on understanding rather than rote learning.
