Tim

Hi, my name is Tim and I am a tutor at AHeadStart for primary school students and for secondary level Maths, Calculus and Physics. I have always had a great love for these subjects which is why I chose to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Canterbury. I am currently in my fourth year and have been gaining a high level of results throughout my degree.

In 2013, I graduated from Christ's College gaining academic colours for achieving over 70 excellence credits in level 2. When I first came to Christ's College I always struggled with the academic side of things but I was lucky enough to get a tutor who could support me outside of the classroom. I could not be where I am today without her. What I benefited from the tutoring inspired to want do the same for others, so I packed my bags and moved to Wales to become a Mathematics tutor at a well renowned College. What I learnt from a year of tutoring overseas was invaluable and am now lucky enough to share my experience in New Zealand with AHeadStart.

As a tutor I particularly focus on the individual student's needs, because everybody is different and we all learn in different ways. I am clear with explaining different concepts and thoroughly enjoy seeing a student develop their knowledge. I know maths and physics can sometimes be a bit boring so I always try and make things a little more fun.

When I am not busy with university, I am out in the ocean surfing, up on the mountain snowboarding or out in the world travelling.
