Neil

Hi everyone, my name is Neil and I am one of the passionate tutors working at AHeadStart this year. I am one of the many students here at University of Canterbury starting their first year with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) hoping to major in Electrical and Electronic or Mechatronics Engineering. Subjects I tutor in are in Mathematics (Calculus and Statistics), Physics, English, Economics and Digital Technologies.

I had done reasonably well with the NCEA curriculum during my high school years and had a passion for helping teach the youth the many lessons I had already endured through so tutoring had become a natural progression when going into university study here in Christchurch. I am someone who is patient and empathetic towards people, as well as being very adaptable to the learning style that suits you best. I would describe myself as someone very bubbly and easy to talk to. I am also someone who shows my work ethic through the many leadership positions and clubs I have involved myself through my high school years.

During my time at high school, Mount Hutt College, I had excelled to a level that warranted me the Dux Award that was earnt through topping my six Level Three subjects in Year 13. I gained my Level One, Two, and Three Excellence Endorsements as well as an array of Excellence and Merit Course Endorsements. With gaining the many excellence credits I had amassed through my three years, I have experienced both the ups and downs of learning and will help you with both the process and content to achieving your wanted grade.

In my spare time, I like to play some tennis and badminton, sneak in a cheeky Netflix binge or two, and read a few books here and then. I look forward to helping you guys through your NCEA journey and hopefully igniting or developing your passion for learning!
