Lewis

Kia Ora, I’m Lewis and I’m in my fourth year at University of Canterbury studying a double degree in a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History, and a Bachelor of Laws. I aspire to eventually work either in Government, or at a University doing research. Here at AHeadStart I can tutor English, History and French to NCEA Level 3, Maths up to Level 2, and Level 2 Physics, as well as Social Studies.

I’m a Burnside High School alumnus, having graduated in 2017, and received excellence endorsements right through from Level 1 to Level 3, and received the top prize in History in my final year. I believe this shows my dedication to achieve good results and work hard, which I hope to instil in any student I tutor.

Outside study, I have worked for the Electoral Commission here in Christchurch to help enrol people before the election and assist them at the voting places during the election, which was an awesome experience that helped develop my interpersonal skills and meet people from all walks of life. During High School I enjoyed acting and was able to perform Shakespeare at the National Sheilah Winn Competition in Wellington. I do some debating with Debsoc at UC, play a bit of tennis, and love a game night with friends.

Overall, I’m someone who takes immense pride in helping others reach their potential and watching the progress they make. I will ensure any student's needs are looked after, and tailor my approach to whichever method suits them best.
