Hey, my name is Harrison and I'm in to my third year as a tutor for AHeadStart in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Statistics, Calculus and English. I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Laws with Honours at the University of Canterbury and have also completed some university level study in chemistry.
I graduated from St Andrew's College in 2016, gaining Excellence endorsements in all three levels of NCEA, with a total of 318 Excellence credits altogether. I also gained a scholarship in Statistics. I was awarded Proxime Accessit in my final year, alongside my roles of Prefect and Academic Captain. At university, I was awarded a prize for achieving top of the class in LAWS101 - the main first year law paper.
I also have taken a keen interest in debating, representing Canterbury at School's Nationals, and now help with the administration of schools debating in my third year as Development Officer for the Canterbury Schools Debating Council (CSDC). On top of that, I enjoyed participating in a few sports, namely cricket, rugby and table tennis whilst at school. The combination of these activities led me to be named the Best All Round Boy in my year group at St Andrew's three times, and contributed to me gaining a UC Emerging Leaders Scholarship for 2017.
I'm interested in tutoring as a product of having both parents work in education, truly passing on their value of learning to me. I initially gained tutoring experience at school through my role as Academic Captain, where I managed the Peer Tutoring program and participating in tutoring other students. On top of this, I have experience coaching debating for a few years, through both St Andrew's and CSDC.
I look forward to helping students understand and enjoy their studies at school.
