Karan

Hello! I’m Karan, I tutor Mathematics, Calculus, Chemistry and English and I am currently in my second year doing a Mechatronics Engineering degree at the University of Canterbury. Originally from Wellington, I graduated from Wellington College in 2016 and decided to continue my studies here in Canterbury because I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and face new challenges.

My passion for tutoring arose in high school during NCEA when I received tutors to guide me through NCEA. The tutors that helped me not only raised my confidence and got me through NCEA with merit endorsements, they’ve also sparked my interest in the subjects I once disliked so very much. Just like that, I wanted to guide other fellow students in hopes to raise their confidence and potentially their interests in their academics whether it is getting that excellence endorsement or simply passing a subject.

I’ve tutored several of my fellow students in various courses and received positive feedback from them. I think it pertains to the patience I have for them and a positive attitude. I know exactly how to tackle a problem, as it is merely a collection of little problems that if the right techniques are applied, can be solved continuously until a desired outcome is reached.

Outside of my studies I love music, playing guitar, riding my motorbike and martial Arts. I took part in a few school productions, was an air cadet and a stand-up comedian. I played rugby, cricket, basketball and did martial arts for 10 years.
