Hi, I’m Ollie, and I tutor Calculus, Mathematics, Science, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. I am in the last year of my Bachelor of Science in Physics and Maths at the University of Canterbury.
I graduated from Wellington High School in 2019, receiving top in physics and top in class for calculus. I achieved outstanding scholarship in Physics, along with scholarship in Calculus and Biology, and excellence endorsement in level 3 Chemistry. I also studied a STAR mathematics course from UC in year 13, achieving an A+ grade. While at school, I was a student WERO leader, and a peer supporter, giving me experience working with younger students and helping them achieve their full potential. Due to my high achievement at high school, I was allowed to skip my first year of university, jumping straight into 200 level maths and physics which was a challenge and forced me to push myself to be the best I can.
As a tutor, and as a student, my focus is on understanding the underlying concepts behind the content. I think it is much more valuable to know why something works and be able to work out the problems for yourself than to just memorise answers to exam questions.
Outside of studying I love to get active. I play ultimate frisbee, and have captained teams at mixed and men’s nationals. I also enjoy lifting weights at the gym and pushing myself to my limits. I look forward to working with students to help them achieve their full potential academically.
