Matthew

Hi, my name is Matthew, and I am tutoring Mathematics, Calculus, Chemistry, Statistics and Earth and Space Science. I am in my final year of studying Civil Engineering at the University of Canterbury.

I went to high school at Tauranga Boys College and achieved excellence endorsements at NCEA Levels 1 and 3 and a merit endorsement at NCEA Level 2. I achieved at least a merit endorsement in all the subjects I am tutoring. I also completed a Stage 1 University Chemistry paper through Waikato University in my final year at high school and achieved an A+.

While at high school I was involved as a tutor in the tutoring programme run by our school prefects for two years. I am often calm, patient, and methodical for my teaching style but am also flexible to find a teaching style that works better for you. I believe that improving a student’s confidence in a subject will lead to better exam results.

Outside of my studies I enjoy board games, video games and reading. I am a keen chess player and was the president of the university chess club for two years. I also enjoy watching sport, in particular tennis, football and motor racing.
