Tayla

Hey, I’m Tayla and I am tutoring Biology, Chemistry, Science and Mathematics (both Statistics and Calculus) for AHeadStart. I’m currently in my first professional year at Canterbury University studying towards a Bachelors of Engineering specializing in Chemical and Process engineering. Next year I will also undertake a minor in Bioprocess engineering which will allow me to keep my future prospects open to many more industries.

I am originally from Southland and attended Southland Girls’ High School where I achieved NCEA levels 1,2 and 3 all with excellence endorsements and gained many excellence subject endorsements. I have also had experience with Cambridge IGCSE examinations, after sitting exams for Global Perspectives, Mathematics and Science in year 10.

During my schooling life I played a range of different sports before finally deciding to focus on track and road cycling. While competing at an international level in cycling I was also the cycling captain, a peer support leader and a tutor within my school. Although cycling is a strong passion, it is currently on the back-burner while I complete my degree.

I was raised on a sheep and beef farm which sparked an interest in biology and chemical engineering. I am very passionate about the farming industry and spend most of my time on my parents farm when I return home to Edendale.
