Holly

Hello! My name is Holly and I am a tutor at AHeadStart for Physics, Calculus, Maths, Chemistry, and Statistics.

Watching the Magic School Bus when I was young was what sparked my interest in astronomy and science in general. I also love cats, caring for the planet and board games.

I have experience tutoring with AHeadStart for two years. I really enjoy watching students learn and grow. I also worked in a less formal setting as a stargazing tour guide for The Dark Sky Project in Tekapo -  I loved showing people the stars and blowing people’s minds with science and beauty of the stars.

I grew up in Blenheim where I completed high school obtaining NCEA levels 1 and 2 with excellence and level 3 with merit, giving me a good grasp on the NCEA system. I have a Bachelor of Science in Astronomy and am now working towards a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Data Science, giving me a strong foundation in Maths, Physics and Statistics.

Science is about understanding and explaining the world around us and it allows people to ask big questions and small ones it is important for everyone to have the opportunity to be curious about the universe they live in, and science gives people the power to do that.
