Xavier

Hi, I’m Xavier and I tutor Calculus, Statistics, Physics, Economics, and Chemistry. I have a keen interest in these subjects, which is why I chose a programme at university that allows me to study both mathematics and finance courses. I am currently in my fourth year studying towards a Bachelor of Science with Honours majoring in Computational and Applied Mathematical Sciences and Financial Engineering.

Taking two majors has allowed me to learn how to approach problems in different ways, as the thinking needed between Mathematics and Finance problems is different. This flexibility will help me cater to a student’s needs, as I know everyone has a different learning style. My passion for learning is why I chose to tutor and is why I am dedicated to building the confidence of students in a way that best helps them achieve their personal goals.

I grew up here in Christchurch and I studied at Cashmere High School, where I gained Excellence endorsements in all three levels. I also achieved Excellence endorsements in level 3 Calculus, Physics and Statistics, and Merit endorsements in level 3 Economics and Chemistry. Additionally, I was awarded first in the level 2 Economics course.

In my spare time I like to ski, read, and hang out with friends. I also love spending lots of time out and about with my dog.

I am excited to help students better engage with and understand their subjects.
